A Promise Beneath the Redwoods: Trixie & Pedro’s Love Story Woven in Heritage and Joy
October 2, 2021
Beneath the towering redwoods of UC Berkeley’s Botanical Gardens, Trixie and Pedro stood hand in hand and vowed forever. Their long-awaited wedding—delayed from its original 10/10/20 date—unfolded as a breathtaking celebration of resilience, togetherness, and enduring love. It was a day not just of union, but of reunion, bringing friends and family together in the soft light of healing and joy.
Trixie wore a refined, effortlessly graceful gown by Theia, discovered during a trunk show at The Wedding Party, a beloved boutique in Berkeley. “I wanted something timeless, something clean and classic,” she shared. “The moment I slipped into it, I felt radiant, at ease, and undeniably me.”
As guests gathered in the Redwood Grove Amphitheater, the air was filled with anticipation and emotion. But for Trixie, the most cherished moment came not from a grand gesture, but from the simple beauty of shared presence. “After everything we’d all been through, just being together again—laughing, dancing, celebrating love—it felt like magic.”
The celebration moved from the grove to the charming Preservation Park in downtown Oakland, where their love story continued with joyful intention. Without a heavy theme, the day was defined by meaning—woven gently with elements of their Filipino and Dominican heritage. Tagalog instrumentals filled the ceremony space, while bachata rhythms invited guests to the dance floor. Their menu was Latin-inspired, catered by Havana Restaurant, and sweetened with handcrafted Filipino desserts by a dear college friend from The Filipino Food Lab. Every detail spoke of who they are: rooted in culture, grounded in values, and generous in spirit.
Their vendors—carefully selected to reflect their support for women-, minority-, and locally-owned businesses—brought the celebration to life with artistry and heart. From the delicate florals by Bahtoh to the soulful visuals captured by Celeste Noche, the day bloomed with beauty and intention.
Afterward, Trixie entrusted her gown to Elegance Preserved for expert cleaning and preservation. “This gown holds the memory of a once-in-a-lifetime day,” she said. “I wanted to care for it with the same thoughtfulness we poured into every other part of our wedding.” One day, she hopes, it may carry meaning again in the hands of a loved one.
