A Masterpiece in Motion: Taylor & Russell’s Palos Verdes Golf Club Wedding

On October 14, 2023, overlooking the sweeping coastline of Palos Verdes Estates, California, Taylor and Russel Rioux celebrated their love in timeless elegance at the iconic Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Taylor’s gown — a breathtaking Carolina Herrera creation discovered at Glamour Closet — took her by surprise in the best way. “I had made appointments all over town and was even considering a trip to London to commission what I thought was my dream gown. I’ve been in love with wedding gowns since childhood and thought it was going to be a long process…until I tried this on during my first day of dress shopping and was blown away. It wasn’t the shape I thought I wanted, the huge bow on the back wasn’t something I’d ever have pictured for me, but when I was in it I knew I was done with my search. I bought it after a quick lunch with my mom spent asking ‘am I crazy? …but I’d have to be crazy not to get it!’”
The moment that will forever live in her heart was their first dance. “I knew it was going to hit me hard because first dances at other people’s weddings always get me, but the world melted away in that moment and this big, carefully orchestrated, formal wedding suddenly felt like the most natural thing we’d ever done.”
Taylor’s love for her gown runs deep: “I am obsessed with my gown. I hope to have daughters who will grow up appreciating it as a symbol of their parents’ relationship and who might choose to wear it for their own weddings one day. Even if that doesn’t happen, I kind of hope it somehow ends up in a museum in 400 years. I love fashion museums and am so grateful for the foresight of generations of women who took meticulous care of their beautiful things so we could admire their craftsmanship and beauty centuries later. I know I’m biased, but I think my gown deserves a place among them.”
From the very beginning, Taylor and Russell wanted their wedding to be unforgettable for everyone who attended. “We wanted our wedding to be the best possible experience for everyone there: tons of fantastic food, unlimited top shelf drinks, and dancing to a live band that absolutely killed it. We made all of the people we love as happy as we could for one night, and it was the most rewarding experience.”
When it came to caring for her treasured gown, Taylor was meticulous. “I researched a bunch of wedding gown preservation companies, and most seemed sketchy, with policies like voiding the guarantee if you take the dress out of its box. Uh, sorry, but how do I know you even cleaned the whole thing if I’m not allowed to take it out and look at it? Very convenient that checking their work would mean that I’m no longer able to ask them to fix any problems.
