Wedding Day | August 6, 2016

Merchant Marine Memorial | San Mateo, CA

Wedding gown preservation is a big post-wedding decision. It always helps to know who you are doing business with – whether a cleaner comes highly recommended or you have done research on cleaners in your neighborhood, deciding to have your wedding gown cleaned and preserved takes a lot of trust!

“Being from the Bay Area, I wanted to support local businesses…” bride Dana recalls, “… and Elegance Preserved came with high recommendations from my style and alterations team at Janene’s.”

Dana and her husband Brandon were married at the Merchant Marine Memorial lookout point at Coyote Point Park surrounded by eucalyptus groves and breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. The bride wore a beautiful mermaid Allure Bridals gown. “What caught my eye was the stunning lace detail and the champagne underlay…” Dana says, “it gave the dress a perfect mix of traditional and unconventional elements that complemented my personality.”

Guests were greeted with a Cuban-themed wedding reception which payed tribute to Brandon’s cultural background as well as Dana’s doctoral research in Caribbean studies. One of their groomsmen performed an original song for the bridal processional and the bride’s Uncle took on the creative task of designing the centerpieces and the bride’s beautiful bouquet.

” A stand-out moment included gifting my bouquet to my grandmother as a more meaningful alternative to the standard bouquet toss—especially, since she had been married to my grandfather for 70+ years” Dana tell us. Talk about heartwarming!

Though Dana and Brandon can look back on their special day with love and fond memories, its the memories that her wedding gown embodies that Dana holds on to. When asked why she wanted to preserve her wedding gown, bride Dana says, “I have very vivid memories of the place my mother’s wedding dress box rested in one of the hall closets of my childhood home, and always imagined that I’d follow in her footsteps. That preservation box alone inspired a lot of daydreaming on my part growing up and that’s a gift I’d like to pass on, if not the dress itself.”

Elegance Preserved
